On
Hank Paulson’s first trip into Eastern Europe,
30 years ago, he was introduced to the Bojtors. That
introduction was the start of a mutually encouraging
friendship, while strengthening each other’s ministries.
Through the years of Communism, Istvan and Uzonka
were committed to bloom where they were planted. They
started reaching out to local teenagers in a parsonage
with no indoor plumbing. Besides being head pastor
of their village church, they had a dynamic youth
ministry -- great for young people fed up with Communist
lies and wanting truth. They sponsored youth camps
each summer held secretly in the mountains of Romania
or Poland. They discipled young people and gave them
counseling about their futures, marriage and an uncompromising
walk with Christ. And these young people grew up,
and today are scattered across Slovakia, Hungary and
Romania as spiritual leaders...blooming where they
are planted.
Now in their seventies, Istvan and Uzonka Bojtor
have not let their age get in the way of their calling
to work with young people. They still hold youth camps
each summer, sharing the Good News of Jesus with yet
another generation of youth.
