POSITION DESCRIPTION


Position Title: Director

Location: Debrecen, Hungary

Reports to: The President of New Hope International (1)


Scope of Position: The overall responsibility of the Director position is to develop and implement New Hope ministries in keeping with the Vision and Values of New Hope International

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establishes relationships and networks with Church, business and government leaders for opportunities to expand or improve existing ministries. (2)
  • Maintains an awareness of cultural spiritual trends and develops and experiments with new ministries to reach specific target groups and improve existing programs
  • Actively seeks new opportunities for and supports existing fundraising activities.
  • Prepares annual ministry plans and implements approved plans, evaluates progress and provides monthly progress reports to the President of New Hope International (3)
  • Communicates frequently with the President of New Hope International (4)
  • Assures compliance with all necessary government, legal and fiscal requirements
  • Maintains good working relationships with other Country Directors and NHI Staff and coordinates activities to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency
  • Recruits staff, evaluates performance and provides the necessary direction and leadership for staff members to perform their responsibilities in the most effective manner
  • Represents NHI President and Board of Directors as necessary or assigned

Ability and Skill Requirements:

  • Be fluent in English as well as the national language (5)
  • Possess a formal education with a college degree preferred
  • Possess at least five years of experience in a leadership position (6)
  • Be a Christian who contributes to a local church and has a reputation consistent with that profession
  • Possess basic computer skills with E mail, word processing and spreadsheets
  • Be able to function effectively in an interdenominational environment
  • Must be proficient in speaking to large groups in both church and secular situations
  • Is sensitive to cultural differences

    Physical Requirements:

    Must have sufficient physical stamina and health to work extended hours from time to time and be able to travel extensively
 
  1. The Country Directors will report to the President of New Hope International and to the Board of Directors where required by Country Law.
  2. Ministry is defined in its broadest sense which includes not only traditional NHI activities of publishing, camp, training and other youth and family programs but also includes such things as seeking new and experimenting with new ministries, modeling the Christian experience within the community and assuring the relevance of all activities. A ministry can include a program that complements a program administered by another organization.
  3. Such ministry plans will be provided in a format consistent with the needs and format established by NHI.
  4. Such communication can be done by email, telephone or in person as appropriate and occur at least weekly or more frequently as required.
  5. To be fluent means that the Director must be able to read write and speak English. In the event a Director lacks such proficiency with English he will be required to take formal training in English. Being fluent in other Eastern European language is also desirable.
  6. This can consist of a combination of education, business and church leadership background.
